The Usui Tradition of Natural Healing
A safe, effective and natural technique
for healing, body, mind and emotions
and refreshing the spirit
Reiki is one of the most ancient healing methods known to mankind. It originated in Tibet and was rediscovered in the nineteenth century by a Japanese monk named Dr Mikao Usui.
As humans we have Universal Life Energy all around us and within us. The Japanese word "Rei-Ki" consists of two syllables" Rei" the universal aspect of this energy and "Ki" which means the fundamental life force flowing and pulsating in all living things.
We bring with us a certain amount of "Ki' to life, and we use it up in the business of ordinary daily living. We then have to create a daily supply of new energy ( by breathing, eating ,drinking, relaxing, sleeping ). When we are unable to make up for our energy consumption for a prolonged period, we may become physically or emotionally ill.
If our supply of life force energy is very low and depleted, we suffer from physical emotional and mental exhaustion. An enormous amount of life force gets used up when we feel anxious, stressed and worried.
For each Reiki healing that you give to yourself, to your family or friends you will:
The attunements are transmissions of energy which open your inner healing channel, allowing more Universal Life Force to flow through you. The Reiki Master transmits this energy by drawing Japanese Kanji symbols over your crown, your throat, your heart and your hands chakras (energy centres). The whole process is deeply soothing and relaxing.
I have attuned hundred's of people now and they all have described the attunement process as being extremely relaxing, some have felt deeply emotional, others have felt very joyful, a unique experience processed differently by each individual.
Reiki symbols are Japanese kanji and are characters from the Japanese alphabet. In ancient times Tibetan monks recognised that our healing channels could be set to "vibrate" in order to transfer more energy. The symbols and mantras they established are today used in Reiki to make these channels vibrate and to increase the vibrational frequency of the whole body.
A Symbol comprises a pictorial drawing and a name, also known as a "mantra". The drawing gives a visual representation of the symbol, while the name allows you to hear its sound and experience its vibration. Sound such as music, is pure vibration. Music can influence different levels of your being. In the attunement process of the first, second and third degree the Reiki Master uses symbols and mantras to create a similar but much higher vibration than music is able to and to channel Universal life Energy.
The word "Chakra" comes from the Sanskrit, meaning "wheel". Here in the West we call them "Energy Centres". They are seven main energy centres in our body and they collect subtle energy, transform it, and supply it to the body. Without chakras we could not have a physical body. Each chakra is "linked" with a certain organ and region of the body and has an influence of its function. Negative feelings, emotions and thinking can block chakras, these blockages affects the efficiency of the corresponding endocrine gland.
Each chakra is linked to an endocrine gland. The hormones produced by the glands flow directly into the bloodstream or into the blood vessels of the organs, bringing vital energy into the body. The endocrine system supplies power to the chakras and. at the same time. leads the subtle energies of the chakras back into the body.
Reiki operates through the interaction between chakras and endocrine glands and, in this way, involves the physical, energetic, and mental planes in the healing process.
Reiki is also differentiated from other healing systems by its simplicity. Following the initial attunements you only have to place your hands on yourself or another person and Reiki will flow through your hands to whatever parts of the body you are touching. There are no complicated mental exercises and no fasting or prolonged meditation practice required in order to practise Reiki.
Once you have received the Reiki attunements, the ability to channel this life energy is always with you.
Reiki 1st Degree : One day
Reiki 2nd Degree: One day
Reiki 3rd Degree: Two days
Reiki courses are friendly and informal with emphasis on hands-on work, guided visualisations, attunements to the different levels of Reiki and awareness of the symbols in Reiki Healing.
I also run regular Reiki support groups throughout the year
The purpose of Reiki is to supply the body with additional energy which it can use for healing itself. Reiki can be used safely regardless of whatever illness the receiver is suffering from, but you should always seek the advice of a specialist doctor in addition to any Reiki you receive. Reiki makes no diagnoses and is intended to be used as a complementary healing method. In the case of acute disorders such as inflammations, influenza, colds, digestive disorders, gall or kidney stones, backaches and headaches, Reiki often acts very quickly and directly by easing the pain and accelerating healing.
Reiki can also be applied directly as first aid, as it stops bleeding in open wounds and has a very calming influence on the nervous system, particularly when people are in shock after an accident. With Reiki, you can also provide relief from allergies, arthritis, and other chronic disorders.
As Reiki supports and complements other medical and natural healing techniques, you can combine it with other treatments, for example, massage, reflexology, counselling and other psychological treatments.
If you suffer from stress, you may react with physical symptoms, such as high blood pressure, headaches, stomach aches, frequent colds, kidney pains, skin disorders, general digestive disorders and depression.
To relieve these symptoms your energy needs to be restored. For example, a lowered immune system or a weak organ that is not functioning properly and which needs recharging with extra energy. Reiki can balance the energies in the body, helping you to let go and relax. so reducing stress. At the same time, it promotes the development of positive reactions to stressful situation.
Reiki strengthens and harmonises the immune system. We continually use up life force energy without replacing it. Reiki helps us to replenish and add to our energy and, in this way, helps to create a healthy body.
What sets Reiki apart from other healing methods is the process of attunement. Reiki may appear to be similar to the laying on of hands and other types of touch healing but the process of opening up the energy channels via the attunements is quite distinctive.
